Redmi S2 vs Redmi Note 5: Xiaomi launched their another selfie-centric smartphone Xiaomi Redmi S2 in China. Specifications are quite similar to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 aka Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus. Key features of this Redmi S2 is its AI integration and better selfie camera. They launched the 3GB/32GB variant at 999 Yuan (10,000Rs. approximately) and 4GB/64GB variant at 1299 Yuan (13,000 Rs. approximately). You should upgrade your Redmi Note 5 or not. Design – Redmi S2 vs Redmi Note 5:
In terms of design, newly launched Xiaomi Redmi S2 is quite similar to the Xiaomi Mi 6X. In front, it sports 5.99-inch HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio and curved edges. Above the display, earpiece, front-facing camera, soft flash, and sensors are placed. There are on-screen navigation keys. At the back, there’s the metal back and the vertical dual rear camera setup is similar to the Xiaomi Mi 6X and Mi Mix 2s. 2 String U Shaped antenna bands are also present at the top and bottom of the rear side. The top has 3.5mm headphone jack and infrared sensor while the bottom of the device has Micro USB port and speaker grills. It comes in rose gold, platinum silver, and champagne gold color variants.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 has similar 5.99-inch 18:9 aspect ratio display with FullHD+ resolution. Front design is similar to Xiaomi Redmi S2 but the rear side is different. It has a single rear camera at the middle top position of the rear side along with the Dual-tone LED flash and Fingerprint sensor. It also has a metal back with some polycarbonate at the top and bottom of the rear side. Similarly, headphone jack and IR Blaster is at the top and Micro USB port, speaker, and microphone are at the bottom of the device.

As we mentioned above Xiaomi Redmi S2 sports 5.99-inch IPS LCD display with 18:9 aspect ratio and HD+ (720 x 1440 pixels) resolution. Whereas the Redmi Note 5 sports 5.99-inch IPS LCD display with 18:9 aspect ratio. But the resolution is FullHD+ (1080 x 2160 pixels) which is better than Xiaomi Redmi S2. So, the display is better on Xiaomi Redmi Note 5.

Both devices run on Android OS with company’s own UI that is MIUI where you can get a lot of inbuilt customizations. So, there is no difference in terms of software. But Redmi S2 has Face unlock and some AI features for the camera.

But in Redmi S2, you can use 2 Sims with a MicroSD card at the same time.

Redmi S2’s rear camera featured a 12MP primary sensor with a 5MP secondary sensor and LED flash. While the front camera is the highlighting feature of this device. In front, 16MP shooter with 2μm of pixel size helps to capture a better selfie. The soft flash will help in low lighting conditions. That’s not enough, AI Algorithms help to capture better bokeh effects. This device has AI Portrait mode option and AI Beauty mode option.
